Chordata Cladogram
Throughout the Cladogram, each animal was more adapted and complex. The Lancelet is in a chordate, but it is not a vertebrate like most of the other animals. There are two groups of invertebrates, which are Lancelets and Tunicates. The Lamprey then adapted through Natural Selection to develop a Vertebral Column. Everything after the Lamprey in the Cladogram is going to have a Vertebral Column. The Grouper has jaw bones to open its mouth wide and clamp down on their prey. The Salamander, Turtle, and Wolf all have jaw bones that they use to eat, but they all do/eat differently. The Salamander lays its eggs in the water like a fish, and when they hatch they have gills, but they eventually grow out of them. The fluid-filled eggs have no protective covering or shells. Adult Salamanders choose to live on land after their body structure and shape change because of their cycle through metomorphasis. A Turtle usually lives in the water, but comes out during low tide to lay their eggs. They lay fluid-filled aggs with leathery shells to protect the eggs more. Once the Turtle lays her eggs, she leaves the babies there and goes back into the body of water she came from. The last animal on the Cladogram is the wolf because this animal has a Vertebral Column, Jaw Bones, Four Legs, but he doesn't lay eggs. Wolves are mammmals, so they have mammary glands. Mammary Glands produce milk to feed young mammals. They also have hair or fur covering their bodies to keep them warm. The thickness depends on the adaptations to the environment/climate. That is how each "branch" evolved on this Cladogram.
